Eminem has taken a Twitter beating over his performance on Saturday Night Live.
The 45-year-old rapper’s performance was skewered on social media as some took shots at the entertainer for performing a medley of old hits.
The Detroit native delivered a rendition of his latest single Walk On Water from his forthcoming album Revival, while integrating elements of past hits such as Stan and Love The Way You Lie.
But the feedback wasn’t likely what Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers, and his label were looking for, with many grousing that the veteran rapper had lost his touch and had to rely on past glories to win over the crowd.
‘Eminem doing a time machine performance and it ain’t helping the fact that he’s washed up and old,’ a user wrote, with another saying, ‘Awful performance on SNL. @Eminem.’
‘Eminem sucks so bad and it sounds like he’s spitting every time he talks @nbcsnl make it stop,’ one user wrote, breaking specific elements in the performance which they believed weren’t up-to-snuff.
Another groused: ‘#Eminem is terrible…damn does the dude have any sense timing/rhythm? Well at least he got the grey dyed out of his beard… that’s something I guess.’
Echoing a similar sentiment, one said: ‘Wish I could text my 7th grade self like: ‘Omg b****, Eminem still raps in 2017 and he sucks!”
One user said that SNL creator Lorne Michaels badly fumbled the evening, not using guest host Chance The Rapper to his maximum potential.
‘Having Chance as your host then wasting your music spot on Eminem is terrible,’ the user wrote. ‘Just use your host instead of this washed garbage.’
More than one user called for the rapper to hang up his mic with one saying: ‘Does it feel to anyone else that he might retire during the end credits?’
Another urged the artist to ‘Just retire into the trailer park you’re #nothing anymore.’
The rap icon also made headlines in October for his biting anti-Donald Trump freestyle rap broadcast during the BET Hip Hop Awards, where he blasted the president on topics including NFL, the border wall, hurricane relief and more.
One user seemed to draw a parallel between that outing and Saturday’s, writing, ‘#Eminem just did the worst ever #SNL performance but maybe the worst performance of all time anywhere. Trump ruins people.’
However, the feedback wasn’t all bad with many of his loyal fans losing their minds.
He had backup on the outing from 31-year-old singer Skylar Grey who sang the parts of Beyoncé from his record.
The Lose Yourself hitmaker scooped his ninth Best Hip Hop award at the MTV Europe Music Awards earlier this month.
After he was announced as the winner, the star opened his speech by saying he was surprised to have received the award as he had been quiet on the musical scene for a few years.
‘Yo, first off… I wanna start off, I’m not really sure how I got this, because I haven’t had an album out in a few year.
“Jesus Christ is the original fake news,” according to Jay-Z, who claims “Jesus never walked the earth, y’all being played” and “the idea of Jesus is just a tool used by smart people to control dumb people.”
Going as far as to claim “Lucifer is the way of truth and light“, Jay-Z also credited his self-described “new humility and maturity” to “fully embracing my older bother, Lucifer.”
During an backstage rant at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on Friday, Jay-Z also claimed Satanism has “gotten a bad rap” due to “mentally challenged Christians and their desire to be slaves,” but Satanism is actually “the highest form of being.”
“There is real spirituality and guidance in the Church of Satan that you just don’t get in Christianity, because Christianity is a fake religion, built by assholes,” Jay-Z said. “Hands up, how many Christians here have prayed to God for years and aint gotten nothing back, just silence and emptiness? Be honest. It’s OK.”
As the small crowd of ticket winners began to murmur nervously, Jay-Z announced, “I can answer for y’all because I am free. Because I recognized Jesus is the original fake news, designed to enslave humanity.“
“I’m telling you this because I know you guys look up to me and want to emulate me. I will give you this one guarantee, if you start following the doctrine of Lucifer, you will taste success. The secret of the universe opens up to you. It is immediate and glorious.”
The 99 Problems rapper also hinted at his Satanic beliefs onstage, telling audiences to ignore the rules of the venue and the security staff trying to enforce them. Instead of respecting the rules, Jay-Z instructed his audience to “Do what thou wilt“.
It has long been known that Jay-Z is a follower of Aleister Crowley, the English occultist and founder of the Satanic religion Thelema.
The religion is founded upon the idea that the 20th century marked the beginning of the Aeon of Horus, in which a new ethical code would be followed; “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law“. This statement indicates that adherents, who are known as Thelemites, should seek out and follow their own true path in life, known as their True Will.
Jay-Z’s Satanic preaching is merely the latest in a long line of public dalliances the rapper has shared with the dark side. After starting his career as an aspirational rapper, he reinvented his image as a dark lord, flashing Satanic hand gestures and promoting Illuminati symbolism as he rode to the top of the rap game.
Since establishing himself in the global consciousness as a Devil-worshipping entertainer, Jay-Z has attempted to tone down his dark image, however the disturbing conversation he held in New Orleans suggests he is far from a reformed character, and he has openly embraced the darkest forces in our society.
The incident has also sparked fears around the world that the Illuminati have moved onto the next phase of the masterplan, and have begun openly promoting dark spirituality as a viable religious choice for those seeking guidance.
Pop mega-star Beyoncé encouraged her 64 million fans on Facebook to turn out and support the Women’s March on Washington to protest President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.
“We raise our voices as mothers, as artists, and as activists. As #GlobalCitizens, we can make our voices heard and turn awareness into meaningful action and positive change. #WomensMarch.,” the “Lemonade” singer wrote Wednesday.
Over 100,000 activists are expected to flock to Washington D.C. to attend the celebrity-endorsed rally, which will take place Saturday January 21.
The group’s organizers want the event to “send a bold message to our new administration on their first day in office, and to the world that women’s rights are human rights.”
Last week, singers and staunch Hillary Clinton supporters Katy Perry and Cher endorsed the anti-Trump rally. Ugly Betty actress America Ferrera, chair of the Women March’s “artist table,” said the protest march is about standing up to the incoming administration.
“Since the election, so many fear that their voices will go unheard,” Ferrera said in a statement. “As artists, women, and most importantly dedicated Americans, it is critical that we stand together in solidarity for the protection, dignity, and rights of our communities. Immigrant rights, worker rights, reproductive rights, LGBTQIA rights, racial justice and environmental rights are not special interests, they affect us all and should be every American’s concern.”
Actresses Scarlett Johansson, Zendaya, Debra Messing, Julianne Moore and comedienne Amy Schumer are all expected to participate in the January 21 event.
Netflix talk show host Chelsea Handler is leading her own anti-Trump rally in Park City, Utah which will coincide with the march at the nation’s capital.
While Women’s March on Washington organizers say the event “is an evolving effort originally founded by white women,” activists of races and genders are expected to attend.
Nevertheless, the rally has been marked by racial tension.
On Wednesday, the NAACP of Portland said the group voted to withdraw its support of the Women’s March on Portland, a satellite anti-Trump protest.
“I didn’t want to be part of the march if it was going to be a white-woman kumbaya march,” said NAACP president Jo Ann Hardesyt.
The New York Times reports that other anti-Trump protest organizers from Louisiana to Tennessee have seen race become an issue. “Long before the first buses roll to Washington and sister demonstrations take place in other cities, contentious conversations about race have erupted nearly every day among marchers, exhilarating some and alienating others,” the Times reported.
