Remember When Obama Claimed He Got All The Chemical Weapons Out Of Syria?

 

Reports on Tuesday revealed that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his allies again targeted civilians in a deadly attack where chemical weapons were used. The attack is the worst chemical attack in the six-year Syrian civil war.

Rewind back to the fall of 2013, when the Obama administration was working with Syrian and Russian leaders to ensure that Assad’s stockpile of chemical weapons would be turned over and destroyed. A deal was reached, and the Obama administration and fellow Democrats applauded the achievement. The deal was reached after President Barack Obama drew his now infamous “red-line,”where he threatened military action against Assad if he used chemical weapons.

For several years, Democratic lawmakers and Obama administration officials touted that Syria turned over “100 percent” of its chemical weapon stockpile.

“It turns out we are getting chemical weapons out of Syria without initiating a strike,” Obama said.

“We struck a deal where we got a hundred percent of the chemical weapons out,” then Secretary of State John Kerry said.

The Obama White House even tweeted out a statement promoting their achievement.

 

In May 2015, Bloomberg reported that Assad used chemical weapons after the Obama administration declared that Syria turned over all their chemical weapon stockpile. Obama dismissed the report and said that chlorine isn’t “historically” considered a chemical weapon. After the report, Obama administration officials continued to say that Syria turned over all their chemical weapons.

Then White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest went on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and said four times that Assad didn’t have a chemical weapon stockpile.

“Right now, Bashar al-Assad doesn’t have a declared chemical weapon stockpile,” Earnest said in September 2015.

Before leaving office, Obama was asked in a “60 Minutes” interview if he would have done things differently when it came to Syria.

“Would you take it back?” Steve Kroft of “60 Minutes” asked Obama, referring to the red-line comment.

“I would have, I think, made a bigger mistake if I had said, ‘Eh, chemical weapons. That doesn’t really change my calculus.’ I think it was important for me as president of the United States to send a message that in fact there is something different about chemical weapons,” Obama said. “And, regardless of how it ended up playing, I think– in the Beltway, what is true is Assad got rid of his chemical weapons.”

Muslims Have Greater Religious Freedom than Christians in Europe, Says Anti-Discrimination Chief

In Europe, Muslims have greater freedom to follow their faith than Christians do, the head of an anti-discrimination group has said.

Martin Kugler, Austrian historian and founder of the Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination Against Christians in Europe, said Christians were being marginalised on the continent while Muslims are treated much more carefully.

Speaking to ACI Prensa, the Spanish edition of the Catholic News Agency, Mr. Kugler accused Europe’s elites of pressuring Christians into hiding their faith while permitting Muslims to display theirs.

Europe has witnessed a secularist offensive, he added, but politicians have different criteria in dealing with Christians and Muslims, permitting the Islamic veil while trying to removing crosses from public places.

He cited the example of air hostesses and nurses disciplined, or sometimes even fired, for wearing small crosses, or attempts to remove nativity scenes from public places.

“The justification is separation between church and state, but in my opinion this is no more than an excuse. What European radical secularism is trying to do, in the name of tolerance and neutrality in the public square, is impose an ideology that means the expulsion of Christians from public life.”

Mr. Kugler also pointed to the rise of Islam in Europe driven by demographic change, saying it is a “great challenge” for Christian culture, but adding: “I think aggressive secularism is more dangerous for European Christians.”

“If Christians had the freedom to follow their conscience, with their schools and their rights, it would be much easier for them to confront the rise of Muslim culture.”

He referred to the words of German Chancellor Angela Merkel who said: “We do not need less Islam, we need more Christianity.”

“It is interesting that Angela Merkel made this statement, because she is not a very observant Christian,” he added.

It is also necessary for Christians to have better knowledge of their own faith if they are to have any hope of protecting it.

“Many German Christians do not know to explain the message of the bible to Muslims, or the significance of Christian celebrations such as Easter. They do not know how to explain Church teaching. There is a lack of formation and bravery on the part of European Christians.”

“Many Christian citizens, or ‘conservatives’, behave like an ‘angry majority’ instead of acting like a ‘creative minority’, forgetting that practising Christians in Europe are already a minority.”

Stanford Accepts Muslim Teenager Who Wrote ‘BlackLivesMatter’ 100 Times On Application

Stanford University, one of America’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning, has reportedly accepted the application of a Muslim teenager whose application included the repition of the slogan “blacklivesmatter” exactly 100 times.

According to The Independent, Muslim senior high school student Ziad Ahmed repeated the slogan in response to the following question in Stanford’s application process: “What matters to you, and why?”

Ahmed posted a picture of his acceptance letter from Stanford on Twitter. In the letter, a Stanford representative said everyone who reviewed his application was “inspired” by Ahmed’s “passion, determination, accomplishments, and heart.”

The letter goes on to invite Ahmed to join a “diverse, joyful, and welcoming campus community.”

In a comment to left-wing online publication Mic.com, Ahmed said “my unapologetic progressivism is a central part of my identity, and I wanted that to be represented adequately in my application.”

Ahmed emphasized that his “blacklivesmatter” answer was not the only part of his application. Nevertheless, this part of his application has been trumpeted by left-wing and mainstream publications including The Independent, Mic, the BBC, and the Huffington Post.

Ahmed, 18, appears to be making rapid strides in the world of left-wing activism. His Twitter profile includes pictures with former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State and failed 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Ahmed was, as his bio claims, listed on MTV’s “Top 9 Teens Changing The World” in 2015. He is the founder of Redefy, an activist organization which aims to “boldly defy stereotypes, embrace acceptance and tolerance, redefine our perspectives positively, and create an active community.”

According to MTV, Ahmed attended the White House Iftar Dinner in 2015, during which he “chatted” with then-President Obama.

“[The President and I] talked about … counterterrorism and Palestine and Israel. And we talked about education; girls’ education,” Ahmed told MTV. “It was just the most enlightening and intellectual and informative conversation I could ever be part of. It reminded me of what I’d said before: Teens don’t realize we need to be in this conversation, injustice is our fight too.”

Ziad Ahmed’s personal website is called ziadtheactivist.com. He describes himself as a “speaker, thinker, and do-er” who “stands unapologetically for justice.”

Left Accuses Gorsuch of Plagiarism

WASHINGTON — Democrats are launching a last-minute attack against Judge Neil Gorsuch that some say smacks of desperation, latching onto a leftwing publication accusing this Harvard- and Oxford-educated scholar of plagiarism.

Gorsuch has written thousands of pages as a federal judge. Prior to that, with not only a law degree from Harvard but also a D.Phil. (the UK version of a Ph.D.) from Oxford, Gorsuch became a published academic scholar. On the eve of his confirmation to join the U.S. Supreme Court, his critics are accusing him of three instances of plagiarism.

One person Gorsuch is accused of plagiarizing, Abigail Lawlis Kuzma, flatly refuted the attack. “I have reviewed both passages and do not see an issue here, even though the language is similar,” she began. “Given that these passages both describe the basic facts of the case, it would have been awkward and difficult for Judge Gorsuch to have used different language.”

Emeritus Professor Jon Finnis of Oxford University agreed. Finnis supervised Gorsuch’s dissertation, which contains some of the allegedly plagiarized material. He responds, “None of the allegations has any substance or justification.” He adds, “Neil Gorsuch’s writing and citing was easily and well within the proper and accepted standards of scholarly research and writing in the field of study in which he and I work.”

Professor Robert George of Princeton University was the general editor for Gorsuch’s publisher, the Princeton University Press. “I can only say that [these allegations’] timing and substance (or, more to the point, lack of substance) makes it difficult to avoid the conclusion that this is a politically motivated effort to smear him in the hope of derailing his confirmation,” George surmised.

“Judge Gorsuch did not attempt to steal other people’s intellectual property … In no case did he seek credit for insights or analysis that had been purloined,” George continued. Noting that Gorsuch’s book went through a rigorous peer review process under the auspices of Princeton before being accepted for publication, George concluded, “Not only is there no fire, there isn’t even any smoke.”

“This false attack has been strongly refuted by highly regarded academic experts, including those who reviewed, professionally examined, and edited Judge Gorsuch’s scholarly writings, and even the author of the main piece cited in the false attack,” said White House spokesman Steven Cheung. “There is only one explanation for this baseless, last-second smear of Judge Gorsuch: those desperate to justify the unprecedented filibuster of a well-qualified and mainstream nominee to the Supreme Court.”

A final vote to confirm Gorsuch to the Supreme Court is expected Friday.

Steve Bannon Leaves National Security Council After Susan Rice Takedown

President Donald Trump’s Senior adviser Stephen K. Bannon has exited his role on President Donald Trump’s National Security Council, claiming that his mission is complete.

“Susan Rice operationalized the NSC during the last administration. I was put on to ensure that it was de-operationalized,” Bannon said in a statement to the Wall Street Journal.

The council suffered a tumultuous transition after Trump’s first National Security Adviser Gen. Michael Flynn resigned less than a month after he took office and was replaced by Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster.

“General McMaster has returned the NSC to its proper function,” Bannon said in his statement. Other sources told reporters that Bannon was part of the council to monitor Flynn’s activity in the early days of the Trump administration.

Former National Security Adviser Susan Rice and Obama allies were furious that Bannon was allowed on the council, even though he rarely attended meetings. Rice was exposed earlier this week by reports revealing that she requested the unmasking of key members of Trump’s transition team.

A White House source confirmed to Breitbart News that Bannon will retain his security clearance in the West Wing.

Trump’s Secretary of Energy Rick Perry was added the council. Nikki Haley, the Representative of the United States to the United Nations was also included as well as Director of National intelligence Dan Coats, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford, and CIA director Mike Pompeo.

Alec Baldwin made an explosive confession in his new memoir, Nevertheless.

And now famed producer Dana Brunetti, 43, is speaking out against the claim that the 59-year-old actor (who was 47 at the time) didn’t know co-star Nikki Reed was ‘seventeen’ while filming R-rated drama Mini’s First Time in 2006.

‘My first indie film was Mini’s starring @AlecBaldwin who knew @NikkiReed_I_Am was 16 (not 17) and he didn’t mind,’  Brunetti began his twitter rant.

Alec claimed in the new book that he did not know Nikki was underage when they filmed sex scenes for the movie and that he ‘flipped out’ at producers when he learned the truth.

But Brunetti says that’s not true and goes into a long-winded explanation taking up 11 tweets.

The House of Cards producer goes on to explain that Alec knew before Nikki was cast: ‘in fact @NikkiReed_I_Am was 1 of 4 actresses “AlecBaldwin had approved and her being the only 1 of those 4 repped by HIS own agency CAA.’

He claims that if Alec yelled at the producer, it wasn’t him.

‘The only time “AlecBaldwin ever yelled at me was on the phone and it was about one of the producers who worked with the financier.’

The two-time Oscar-nominated producer goes on to explain that the film’s director Nick Guthe liked the idea because they wouldn’t be ‘pressured into shooting scenes with nudity.’

Brunetti, who is President of Kevin Spacey’s production company, brought the A-lister into the mix.

He finished: ‘UNLESS @AlecBaldwin saw @KevinSpacey some event after and yelled at him?? Though that would be wrong too, because again, Alec knew.’

Mini’s First Time is an indie film produced by Kevin Spacey’s production company Trigger Street Productions and features Alec as a married man who has a torrid affair with his step-daughter (Reed).

Vanity Fair did a profile on Brunetti in 2016, calling him the most hated executive in Hollywood, as he’s young, successful, handsome — and owns three Ferraris.

His successful box office hit Fifty Shades of Grey made $564 million at the box office.

Alec Baldwin’s memoir Nevertheless hit stands Tuesday April 4.
