She Is Not A Negro But Was Offended By The Term Negro.
A Columbia University student publicly complained about her professor using the word “Negro,” even though he said it in a lesson about 1960s America.
The Columbia Daily Spectorran a storyThursday about what happens “when professors make racially insensitive remarks.” The paper cited a complaint by student Maria Fernanda Martinez of a perceived “microagression.” Martinez said her professor told the class it was appropriate to use the term “Negro” when discussing the 1960’s, a time when that was the politically correct term for African-Americans.
“Martinez, troubled by these comments, sent her professor an email after class, including links to resources about why using the term is offensive, but said she saw no real change in her professor’s approach to teaching the material,” the Spector reported.
“I didn’t pay attention in class after that,” Martinez said.
The Spector reported Martinez, nevertheless, didn’t report the instance “because she felt that his comments were ill-informed rather than targeted at her.”
But in an email to the Spector, Professor Todd Gitlin defended the educational use of the word. “It is in fact true, a matter of historical record, that African Americans in the ’50s and ’60s wanted to be called ‘Negroes.’ Denying that practice would be a falsification of history,” he wrote.
Gitlin is in a position to speak with some authority on the matter; he was president of the left-wing Students for Democratic Action at the height of the civil rights movement in the early 1960s.
In another instance highlighted by the paper, a student complained her English professor said the N-word when reading out loud from a book.
“It’s hard to continue on, not knowing if you are welcome in a space completely or [if] people have the knowledge to welcome you to a space,” she said.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a call to reporters that users who had a specific search functionality turned on should “assume” that their public profile has been scraped.
Facebook’s Zuckerberg on personal privacy
Facebook said Wednesday that it believes most of its users who had a specific search function enabled have had their profile data scraped by third parties.
“We’ve seen some scraping,” CEO Mark Zuckerberg said on a call with reporters. “I would assume if you had that setting turned on that someone at some point has access to your public information in some way,” he said.
The setting Zuckerberg referred to is one where users let other users search for them by e-mail address or phone number instead of by name.
Facebook’s Zuckerberg on phone privacy setting
The company said earlier in a post from Facebook’s chief technology officer, Mike Schroepfer, that most Facebook users “could have” had their public profile scraped.
In a section discussing search and account discovery features, Schroepfer said this:
“Until today, people could enter another person’s phone number or email address into Facebook search to help find them. This has been especially useful for finding your friends in languages which take more effort to type out a full name, or where many people have the same name. In Bangladesh, for example, this feature makes up 7% of all searches. However, malicious actors have also abused these features to scrape public profile information by submitting phone numbers or email addresses they already have through search and account recovery. Given the scale and sophistication of the activity we’ve seen, we believe most people on Facebook could have had their public profile scraped in this way. So we have now disabled this feature. We’re also making changes to account recovery to reduce the risk of scraping as well.”

In the call with media Wednesday, Zuckerberg clarified further. “It is reasonable to expect… someone has accessed your information in this way,” he said.
This news is in addition to Facebook’s claims that political analytics firm Cambridge Analytica gained access to data from as many as 87 million Facebook users. Media reports had previously placed the number at more than 50 million.
Bringing A Rock To A Gun Fight Is Like Fighting This Creature With A Plastic Fork.
The superintendent of Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania’s Blue Mountain School District says his students avail themselves of rocks with which to defend against mass shooters.
WNEP reports that superintendent Dr. David Helsel told a Pennsylvania House Education Committee, “Every classroom has been equipped with a five-gallon bucket of river stone. If an armed intruder attempts to gain entrance into any of our classrooms, they will face a classroom full students armed with rocks and they will be stoned.”
Bringing A Rock To A Gun Fight Will Get You Put In Boothill Graveyard In Tombstone City.
Helsel explained how the plan to throw rocks came about: “At one time I just had the idea of river stone, they`re the right size for hands, you can throw them very hard and they will create or cause pain, which can distract.”
He stressed that doors have been re-enforced, making them difficult to break through, and students have also been trained in “barricading the doors” to make breaching them even more difficult. But the students are armed with rocks in the event that a shooter does get through.

A Democratic congressman from Long Island implied that Americans should grab weapons and oppose President Trump by force, if the commander-in-chief doesn’t follow the Constitution.
Rep. Tom Suozzi made the remark to constituents at a town hall last week, saying that folks opposed to Trump might resort to the “Second Amendment.”
“It’s really a matter of putting public pressure on the president,” Suozzi said in a newly released video of the March 12 talk in Huntington. “This is where the Second Amendment comes in, quite frankly, because you know, what if the president was to ignore the courts? What would you do? What would we do?”
A listener then blurts out, “What’s the Second Amendment?”
The left-leaning Democrat says, “The Second Amendment is the right to bear arms.”
The spectators laughed — some nervously. Republicans were not amused.
“This video is incredibly disturbing. It’s surreal to watch a sitting member of Congress suggest that his constituents should take up arms against the president of the United States,” said National Republican Campaign Committee spokesman Chris Martin.
Suozzi political adviser Kim Devlin denied the pol was “advocating for an armed insurrection.”
But the Suozzi campaign at the same time seemed to double down on the comments, as they forwarded a line penned by Thomas Jefferson that called for armed resistance.
“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms,” the quote said.
Suozzi’s comment seems to conflict with his recent push for gun control following the Parkland, Florida, school shooting.
Suozzi even participated in the March 14 student walkout for gun control outside the US Capitol — and called on the young people of his district to back tightened gun laws.
“I think we should engage the high school students of #NY03, and all of Long Island, to promote gun violence prevention legislation,” he said in a Feb. 21 tweet.
Trump himself has in the past used language similar to Suozzi’s. During the 2016 campaign, he told a crowd at a rally in North Carolina that if Hillary Clinton were elected and able to nominate a Supreme Court justice, there would be nothing that gun supporters could do. He then added: “Although the Second Amendment people — maybe there is, I don’t know.”
The remark was widely seen as a veiled call for violence, though Trump denied that was his meaning.
Suozzi, a first-term congressman elected in 2016, is seeking re-election this fall. He formerly served as Nassau County executive.
He is expected to easily win the Democratic primary and face GOP challenger Dan Debono, a former US Navy SEAL, in the general election.

Once again Liberals have no concern for the welfare of Americans. Having the deputies shot and killed is better than deporting an illegal.’
Seniorita Hernandez doesn’t want to comply with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement? Surprise, surprise. Stop allowing multi-national third world people and advocates to populate the ranks of our administrations! Doing so is national suicide.
Sheriffs are supposed to enforce the law, that is their job. I assume that this sheriff took an oath to that effect after she was elected. Now she refuses to sign a letter pledging to enforce the law. Is this not grounds for impeachment? A sheriff does not have the right to decide which laws to enforce and which ones to ignore. This sheriff is the one making a political statement, not the governor.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced in January that Texas would fund $23 million in grants to purchase new vests for approximately 450 law enforcement agencies around the state. KXAN-TV reports:
Travis County did not apply for the grant because one condition from the governor’s office required the agency to “sign a letter confirming compliance with ICE detainer requests both now and during the grant term of at least one year,” according to Travis County Commissioner’s Court records.
The recommendations from the state said, “It is anticipated the number of fatal shootings will be reduced by equipping more officers with type III & IV body armor.”
Intentionally putting another’s life in jeopardy for political purposes most definitely is deserving of a long prison sentence – she has arguably committed an act of domestic terrorism, by its very definition.
Travis County Sheriff Sally Hernandez refuses to give her deputies rifle-resistance vests funded by the state because she would have to commit to holding arrested illegal aliens for deportation.

If Sheriff Hernandez loses an officer whose life could have been saved by one of these vests, I hope there is a special place in HeII for her. I also hope there is someone in the officer’s family willing to send her there prematurely.
She is playing politics with these men’s lives. But then again, it is not unlike her Washington counterparts who lets the Government shut down over the DACA illegal immigrants. These Democrats are firmly in it for the manufacture of immigrant voters.
SOUND OFF in the comment section what you think about this decision by this Texas sheriff and how will if affect their community.
Americans who hate President Trump now have a “safe space” to “unite in love” and stand against the White House.
The newly released website NeverTrump.Dating aims to give liberals a place to meet a woman or man who shares their disdain for the president.
The American Liberal Council, a self-described political start-up that does not have a website, said it contacted the Trump.Dating platform and had this new site made so that Democrats and others unhappy with the Trump administration could have a unique online equivalent to Trump.Dating, a dating site for supporters of the president that was rolled out in February.
NeverTrump.Dating states that members should be people who “will never back down to the corrupt, morally-bankrupt administration in power.”
Future Voting Democrat.
“Unlike the political opposition, we’re keeping our doors open. No matter what your sexual orientation, race, or creed might be, there’s a place for you on NeverTrump.Dating. The far right can try their hardest to put us in a box, and strip away our rights, but they’ll lose in the end, and our victory starts with couples that are united in social justice. Let’s make the world a better place, two liberals at a time,” the homepage states.
