A priest has been stabbed in his own home by an asylum seeker he allowed in to use his shower – according to local prosecutors.
The priest – named locally as 65-year-old Jos Vanderlee – suffered injuries to his hands during the incident in Lanaken, Belgium.
Public Prosecutor of Limburg Coppin Bruno said the attack happened at around 2.40pm local time (1.40pm UK time) but have stressed they do not believe it was terror-related.
Prosecutors say the suspect had knocked on the priest’s home to ask for a shower and help.
After the shower the man allegedly asked for money and stabbed the priest when he said no.
An investigation has been launched but authorities have stressed they do not believe the incident is linked to terrorism.
The mayor of Lanake Marino Keulen, said: “Despite the fact that we are shocked, we
must stress that this incident can not be linked to terrorist acts at this stage of the investigation.”
Last week, 85-year-old priest Jacques Hemel was knifed to death by ISIS extremists at a church in Normandy, France.
Teenage knifemen Adel Kermiche and Abdel Malik Nabil Petitjean, both 19, stormed the church and took five hostages before slashing the elderly priest’s throat at the altar on Tuesday.
The pair had recorded a video pledging allegiance to ISIS and the terror group later claimed responsibility for the attack.

Every time a Muslim commits an act of violence in the west, it is officially regarded as an isolated event, no matter how often this type of muslim-on-nonmuslim violence occurs. The authorities in western countries refuse to see the incidents as connected, or recognize the signs of the real problem, which is that the basic concepts of Islam are defective and hostile.
The religion itself breeds cult-mindedness, because it’s underlying principles forbid independent thought or autonomy, and the teachings of Muhammed lead any zealous follower into a more and more homicidal outlook against non-Muslims.
They aren’t stupid, their plan for decades has been to take over by infiltration. A major imam’s directive from the 70s ordered a new jihad by: immigration, breeding a new generation of voters, and taking over by population pressure. This is why so many muslims in western countries live on welfare having children faster than cockroaches. Islam is positioning itself gradually to put its boot on the neck of the rest of the world.
Okay, that was really mean of me to say, cockroaches. I got carried away. But it makes me so mad that they think they have more rights to my country than I do.
It makes me mad that they accept Muhammad’s legitimacy as a prophet from the same book, Deuteronomy, that destroys his legitimacy when the lies about the crane gods came out of his mouth, meaning he cannot be a true prophet of God – by his own admission that it was Satan that put the words on his tongue!
And it’s the same book of Moses in which God makes it very clear that the Holy Land is his gift to the Israeli people, the descendants of Abraham, Isaac (not! Ishmael) and Jacob, for all time! Mohammed the self-proclaimed prophet wanted to cherry pick which parts of God’s Word he used, because religion was just a population control device for him.
Just like the Islamists of today, they are still trying to cherry pick that part of scripture to ignore, to justify hating and exterminating God’s chosen people from their own birthright land. But even the quran says that if a conqueror wins a war, the land and spoils belong to the victors.
Israel won the West Bank in 1967 by a miracle, then Jordan refused to let them give it back because at that time, the place was the armpit of the universe. No infrastructure, just a bunch of nomadic goat herders and thugs waiting to ambush travelers. The people of the Palestine were not Palestinians in 1967, they were just a mixture of Aramaic, Arabic, Hebrew and Christian nomads eking out a living on goats since it was too arid to farm.
At that time, the residents of the Palestine were thrilled that Israel was going to take over the West Bank, because it meant running water, electricity, roads, jobs, health care, food, and law enforcement to make it a safer place to live. It wasn’t until much later with the rise of radical Islam that this idea of “Israel is bad for settling in the West Bank” came up. Why the hell shouldn’t they settle in an area they conquered in a war they didn’t start, tried to return and King Hussein refused, so they brought all the improvements to the land and helped all those Palestinians’ parents and grandparents?
Israel didn’t have to start all the restrictions on the people until the radicals started using little jewish kids for target practice. Why shouldn’t they defend their own people from those Islamists that want to kill them?
