Disney Announces Show Featuring Ritualistic Killing and a Blood Drinking Cult
Disney has had its fair share of shows recently that demonstrate the company is expanding to reach a wide variety of audiences, but some of its shows have caused a certain amount of confusion among audiences, given their themes. Earlier this year, the company caused an uproar on social media when it released details about its new German show, Paulina, which will tell the story of a pregnant teen that falls in love with the devil.
A new adult animated comedy, Praise Petey, comes from Freeform. It follows the story of a New York “It Girl” trying to reform and modernize her father’s cult. Protagonist Petra’s (AKA Petey) life is turned on its head when she has to move to New Utopia, a community her father founded. What makes the situation even more tense is that the community believes Petey’s their prophesized savior.
One shared, “It is so nice that Disney is making shows that look like the world they live in. I’m sure it reflects their values and community.”
Another opined, “Disney is showing everyone who they are and have always been…”
Some fans recalled Disney’s current trouble with its theme park attendance (Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort), sharing, “No wonder the Disney parks have fewer visitors. People are sick of garbage like this promoted on their network and it’s souring all of Disney’s products.”
