Rioter Shoots Police Officer in the Head from Behind In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) —An officer who was shot in the head near the Circus Circus casino is on life support at University Medical Center, sources confirmed to KLAS.

The source said the officer was in a fight with a suspect when someone walked up from behind and shot the officer.

At the Federal Courthouse, an officer-involved shooting occurred when officers fired on a suspect who fired a shot at the courthouse. The suspect was hit several times. There is no word on his condition.

Gov. Steve Sisolak tweeted that his office is monitoring the situation, writing, “My Office has been notified that the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is currently working two separate incidents in Las Vegas. The State is in contact with local law enforcement and continues to monitor the situation.”

Police in Las Vegas said Monday that 338 people were arrested during three nights of protests. Police said suspects were jailed despite a local court policy calling for most people accused of misdemeanors to receive court summons to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Local law enforcement were investigating the destruction of a police SUV when they received an anonymous tip from a co-worker at Amazon who recognized Bartels at the scene of the crime, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. The vehicle was set on fire after being tagged with spray paint Saturday, although police officers eventually arrived on horseback to disperse the rioters.

According to a criminal complaint and eyewitness accounts, a woman tried to stop Bartels from damaging the SUV, but he gave her the finger and proceeded to break the car’s windows.

After Bartels was identified, police executed a search warrant at his home Sunday, breaking down the front and back doors when no one responded. They found two guns, six spray paint cans and the sweatshirt worn by Bartels during the demonstration, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The 20-year-old turned himself in Monday and was escorted by his parents and an attorney. Local news reporters attempted to ask him questions but Bartels ignored them as he walked into the station. He was referred to as “antifa kid” in a Monday tweet by Jason Howerton, but any affiliation with antifa is unclear.

Bartels faces multiple felony charges including criminal mischief, institutional vandalism and riot.

Joe Biden’s New Look Is Frightening On Memorial Day

Joe Biden made his first in-person appearance in more than two months on Monday as he marked Memorial Day by laying a wreath at a veterans park near his Delaware home.

Since abruptly canceling a March 10 rally in Cleveland at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee has waged much of his campaign from his home in Wilmington. When Biden emerged on Monday, he wore a face mask, in contrast to President Donald Trump, who has refused to cover his face in public as health officials suggest.

Biden and his wife, Jill, laid a wreath of white flowers tied with a white bow, and bowed their heads in silence at the park.

The appearance was a milestone in a presidential campaign that has largely been frozen by the coronavirus outbreak. While the feasibility of traditional events such as rallies and the presidential conventions are in doubt, Biden’s emergence suggests he won’t spend the nearly five months that remain until the election entirely at home.

The coronavirus has upended virtually all aspects of American life and changed the terms of the election. Trump’s argument that he deserves another term in office because of the strong economy has evaporated as unemployment rises to levels not seen since the Great Depression.

As a longtime senator and former vice president, Biden is trying to position himself as someone with the experience and empathy to lead the country out of a crisis.

Biden has adjusted to the coronavirus era by building a television studio in his home, which he’s used to make appearances on news programs, late-night shows and virtual campaign events. Some of those efforts have been marred by technical glitches and other awkward moments.

Some Democratic strategists have openly worried that Biden is ceding too much ground to Trump by staying home. The president himself has knocked Biden for essentially campaigning from his basement.

Biden’s advisers say they plan to return to normal campaign activities at some point, including travel to battleground states But they’re in no hurry, preferring to defer to the advice of health experts and authorities’ stay-at-home and social distancing recommendations.

At 77, Biden is among the nation’s senior population thought to be especially vulnerable to the effects of the coronavirus — though so is Trump, who turns 74 next month.

“We will never make any choices that put our staff or voters in harm’s way,” Biden campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon said recently, adding that the campaign would resume more traditional activities “when safety allows, and we will not do that a day sooner.”

Trump has not resumed the large rallies that were the hallmark of his 2016 campaign and presidency but has begun traveling outside Washington in recent weeks. He visited a facility producing face masks in Arizona and a Ford plant in Michigan that has been converted to produce medical and protective equipment.

Trump even played golf at his club in Virginia on the weekend, hoping that others will follow his lead and return to some semblance of normal life and gradually help revive an economy in free fall.

It was the president’s first trip to one of his money-making properties since March 8, when he visited his private golf club in West Palm Beach. The World Health Organization declared the coronavirus a pandemic on March 11, and Trump followed with the national emergency declaration two days later.

Biden’s campaign wasted little time producing an online video offering blurry, faraway footage of Trump on the golf course, imposed over images evoking the virus ravaging the nation as the number of Americans dead from the pandemic approached 100,000. The video concluded by proclaiming: “The death toll is still rising. The president is playing golf.”

Trump was spending Memorial Day visiting Arlington National Cemetery and the Fort McHenry national monument in Baltimore, to be followed by a trip to Florida’s coast on Wednesday to watch to U.S. astronauts blast into orbit.

L.A. County Inmates Infect Themselves with coronavirus To Get Out Of Jail

Inmates at the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic apparently infected themselves on purpose with COVID-19 in an attempt to get early releases, the Los Angeles County’s sheriff said on Monday.

About two dozen inmates living in one module at the jail gathered in a common area and passed around a cup of hot water and a used face mask between each other in mid-April, Sheriff Alex Villanueva said.

It’s unclear if one of the men thought he had the virus, or if the inmates were just hoping one of them had it and would infect the others, the sheriff said.

The inmates would not talk to deputies about their actions, but the sheriff said it sure seems like they wanted to get sick to win early releases.

At least 21 inmates in the module, out of about 50, later tested positive for coronavirus.

“There was a mistaken belief that this was a way to force our hand, and somehow release more inmates,” Villanueva said, showing a surveilllance video during a Monday virtual press conference of the group of blue-jumpsuit-clad inmates standing together and passing the objects among themselves.

After an outbreak at the facility, deputies tried to figure out how that occurred and found the incident on the video.

The Sheriff’s Department now believes dozens more inmates at the Pitchess Detention Center later became infected with the virus because of this one event, the sheriff said.

An investigation is underway, the sheriff said, and if a nurse or deputy gets sick because of the inmates’ actions, charges could be filed against the suspects.

Over the last three months, the Sheriff’s Department has released thousands of inmates to try and reduce the possibility of a widespread and destructive outbreak of coronavirus in the country’s largest jail system. L.A. County’s jail population is now below 12,000 – about 5,000 fewer than before the pandemic.

Many of those released were inmates with fewer than 30 days left on sentences. Others were pre-trial detainees charged with non-violent crimes who will now wait for their trials at home.

The District Attorney’s Office and the courts have also resentenced inmates who they found didn’t pose a danger if released.

Villanueva said if the jail system was still overpopulated, the outbreak could have been even worse. There are 222 inmates in the system who are known to have coronavirus. In total, 357 have tested positive over the last few months. None has died.

The sheriff said no one in the department anticipated inmates trying to infect themselves on purpose.

“I don’t think we entertained that someone would try and do this,” he said. “But it happened, so we just got to deal with it.”

President Trump Wants Everyone Vaccinated! ‘Operation Warp Speed’

Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar detailed Operation Warp Speed on Tuesday at the White House, a government effort to speed the development of a coronavirus vaccine.

“The president said that the timelines that the drug companies were laying out was unacceptable that we needed to move faster,” Azar told a group of reporters including Breitbart News at the White House in a meeting with the coronavirus task force.

Azar noted President Donald Trump’s goal was 100 million doses of a vaccine available by the fall and 300 million doses by January.

“There are no guarantees, this is drug development,” he said, noting the push to get the vaccine ready in just seven months was ambitious.

President Trump predicted Sunday a coronavirus vaccine ready by the end of 2020 and Dr. Anthony Fauci has said that a timeline of early January would fit within an attainable target.

Azar noted during the normal vaccine process, a drug company would space out their development of the vaccine between the four different phases before going to commercial-scale manufacturing.

“That’s what leads to these extremely long timelines for drug and vaccine development,” Azar said. “The president said that’s not acceptable, we have the money, the resources, the brainpower to take all across the Us government and the private sector to compress all those timelines.”

The federal government would fund a move to mass manufacturing on promising vaccine candidates, while the trial process continued.

“We’re going to tell them go ahead and start manufacturing now, and we’re going to pay for that even if we get to the end and there’s 50 million doses that actually don’t work,” Vice President Pence said.

Pence said that by phase three of the vaccine development trials, the CDC could issue a waiver to put it into use.

The government and private push for the vaccine are coordinated by the National Institutes of Health and the Accelerating COVID-19 Therapeutic Interventions and Vaccines (ACTIV) partnership which includes over a dozen biopharmaceutical companies, the United States government, the Gates Foundation, and the European Medicine Association.

Azar said that the group would move quickly to get a vaccine manufactured once they found a successful candidate.

“If any country can develop a vaccine we will deploy all available resources, use all available technology and do so here in the United States to bring manufacturing scale to that,” he said.

FDA Commissioner Dr. Stephen Hahn said there were many pathways for preliminary approval for the vaccine.

“I do want to emphasize one thing, we definitely want to remove any unnecessary delays, but we will use data and science, which is a promise to the American people to fulfill our obligation regarding safety and ecovacy regarding a vaccine.

Acting CEO Of Planned Parenthood Says The Silver Lining To Pandemic Is Having Abortions At Home

Staying home is supposed to keep people safe. But for unborn babies, even lockdowns have their risks. Any house can be an abortion clinic, Planned Parenthood wants people to know. You just have to call for pills.

“It’s actually a silver lining in this pandemic,” acting CEO Alexis McGill-Johnson insisted to Democracy Now’s Amy Goodman. “Planned Parenthood and many other health providers have actually been able to really lean into telehealth infrastructure and provide service.” To the country’s biggest abortion business, the “silver lining” of the coronavirus is more deaths — more innocent, unborn, child fatalities made possible by their money-hungry network.

Gleefully, McGill-Johnson goes on to say that by the end of April, Planned Parenthood will have expanded its so-called “telehealth” operations to all 50 states. That means women can access abortions remotely — chemically-induced procedures that carry significant risks. They tell women that it’ll be simple, natural, safe, and private process. They’ll recover in a day, maybe two. What they don’t tell them is that they might deliver a tiny, perfectly-formed child. Or that they’ll experience labor pains, heavy bleeding, vomiting, or lose consciousness. They don’t talk about the depression, anger, anxiety, panic attacks, and substance abuse that follow. Or the weeks to months of recovery time, usually managed alone.

They don’t tell them the stories like Solome’s. “I had blood all over my legs and went in the tub to wash them. The cramps got so bad I couldn’t even move. I couldn’t even cry…” she testified to the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus. “I couldn’t get to my phone to dial 911 and go to the emergency room… I haven’t really healed from my experience, and I don’t know if I ever will.”

Or Elizabeth’s. “There was so much pain and blood I thought I might die.’ Finally she passed the gestational sac: ‘It was transparent yellow, about the size and shape of a tennis ball. When I picked it up, I could see the baby inside. He looked like a little gummy bear. I sat and held him and cried. Then I flushed my baby down the toilet.”

Or Tammi’s. “It was nothing like they told me… I pushed under I felt something come out and I heard a sound. I looked down and screamed. It was not just a blob of tissue. I had given birth to what looked like a fully-formed, intact 14-week-old fetus covered in blood…”

This is Planned Parenthood’s “silver lining:” babies who don’t have a chance at life, women who are haunted and harmed.
